Disciple joins Builders of Beloved Community group

Chapman University senior Alyxandra “Aly” Gideon attended the annual Leaders in Ministry conference in Nashville in June as an Undergraduate Fellowship recipient. The conference is sponsored by the Fund for Theological Education.

The only recipient affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Gideon was joined by more than 75 other participants who discussed and experienced the theme of what it means to be Builders of Beloved Communities. The fellows explored their call to vocation through daily workshops and discussion groups.

Gideon said, “It was comforting to meet other people like me who are passionate about ministry, but who are also experiencing similar doubts and questions during our time in higher education.”

Two other Disciples of Christ participated as presenters for FTE – Jessica Vasquez and Lori Adams on contextual exegesis and cultural competency.
