Council on Christian Unity introduces new ecumenical, interfaith journal

In an expansion of the content of the journals the Council on Christian Unity (CCU) has produced for more than half a century, a new journal called Sunesis debuted in October. With the name based on the Greek word translated “insight” (Eph. 3:4), this journal goes beyond the ecumenical to also address interfaith issues.

The inaugural issue includes thought-provoking addresses from several recent gatherings:

  • 14th Joe A. and Nancy Vaughn Stalcup Lecture on Christian Unity; Sisters and Brothers by Other Mothers by Bishop Teresa Jefferson-Snorton
  • 29th Peter Ainslie Lecture on Christian Unity; Unity Today and Unity Tomorrow by Rev. Joel Ortega-Dopico
  • 2017 Churches Uniting in Christ National Celebration Address; When You Do This, Remember Me: Remembering and Recovering the Purpose of COCU and CUIC by Rev. Dr. Keith Watkins.

The publication, available by download from CCU’s website (in the dropdown menu under resources), will be distributed by link in the CCU’s occasional e-letter.

Individuals can submit their articles, sermon manuscripts, or reflections related to either ecumenical issues or interfaith work. Editors will determine if the submission is included. There is no honorarium for published articles. Submissions should be sent by e-mail to tche@disciples.org.
