National experts join Leadership Academy to share experience

“One trait that I look for in any good coach is someone who is able to say, ‘I have been in your shoes…made lots of mistakes, but ultimately succeeded,’” says Jim Griffith, Founder of Griffith Coaching and nationally renowned author of “Ten Most Common Mistakes New Starts Make.” Griffith will join an all-star lineup of ministry professionals, who will share their expertise in coaching, leadership, church transformation, revitalization and sustainability at the Hope Partnership for Missional Transformation Leadership Academy in Indianapolis, September 18-22.

Griffth, who started planting churches in the late 1970s, felt a sense of isolation until he attended a church planters boot camp in 1991. It was at this event that he discovered his passion for coaching ministry leaders and started Griffith Coaching, a network of specialists who assess, train and coach church leaders and their churches.

Also joining the Leadership Academy as a presenter will be Angela Whitenhill, Mental Health Initiative Manager for the National Benevolent Association. She is a licensed innovative family and children’s therapist, who specializes in general trauma, religious trauma, identity issues, self-esteem, children attachment, adoption and parenting issues.

Kate Penney, Senior Pastor of North Christian Church in Fort Wayne, Ind., will co-lead the Sustain track with Terrell L McTyer, Minister of New Church Strategies, during this year’s event. Penney’s ministry passion includes anti-racism/pro-reconciliation work and pastoral care for families in crisis. “This track is perfect for core teams, congregation/lay leaders and newly-affiliated churches,” says McTyer.

In addition, Rev. Eric H.F. Law, Founder and Executive Director of the Kaleidoscope Institute, will join the list of presenters at this year’s Leadership Academy. The Kaleidoscope Institute provides resources to equip church leaders to create sustainable churches and communities.

Hosted by Hope Partnership, each year leaders from across the United States attend the Leadership Academy to share wisdom, leadership, empowerment and experience trainings.
