Pentecost Offering supports expanding New Church movement

2011 Pentecost OfferingYolanda Marquez-Lucar is a busy woman these days. Having attended one of the first Disciples New Church Ministry classes more than 20 years ago, Marquez-Lucar has since planted seven Disciples Churches. "Yolanda is an answer to our prayers," said Northern California-Nevada Regional Minister Ben Bohren. Now, Marquez-Lucar is at it again. She returned to training in 2010 with visions of planting an eighth church, Primera Iglesia Cristiana, in Fresno, Calif.

Disciples will have the opportunity to support the work of church planters such as Marquez-Lucar and the mission of the new church movement through the upcoming 2011 Pentecost Offering. This special offering will be received in most congregations June 5 and 12. The offering is divided evenly between the region where it is received and New Church Ministry, and funds recruitment, training, coaching and assessment of new church planters.
