We are Disciples of Christ – in Canada and the United States. Elections in Canada this week indicate that change is in the air. An unusually large turn-out at the polls ends one party’s decade of dominance and begins a new era with a new set of priorities. Early indications are that those priorities will include emphasizing care for the earth, easing economic divides, peacemaking on the world stage and an opening of society to diversity.
Knowing that any change can be stressful, I lift up the hopes of those who are aligned with these new priorities. I also pray that those who perceive a loss will find their place and time to re-engage in a unified Canada. May the gifts of all Canadian Disciples be part of building a society of justice and peace.
