GMP Among Leaders In Movement To End Hunger And Poverty
Disciples News Service - 6/8/2007
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will be represented at the second Interfaith Convocation on Hunger by General Minister and President Sharon E. Watkins. The convocation will take place June 11 at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. The convocation is part of Bread for the World's “Gathering 2007, Sowing Seeds: Growing A Movement,” which will be held in Washington, June 9-12.
Gathering 2007 will bring together leaders of faith groups and traditions, who will call on political leaders to renew their commitment to end hunger. “Poverty and hunger are simply unacceptable,” said Watkins. “These unnecessary realities that plague far too many of God’s children on our planet are especially unacceptable in a world of plenty.” To read more about Gathering 2007, “ see: www.disciples.org/dns/releases2007/07086.html
