The Proclamation Project is pleased to offer a limited number of small grants to support preachers in bivocational ministry settings. Bivocational grants for preaching are intended for Disciples preachers who preach regularly in a local congregation and also hold employment outside the congregation they serve.
Preachers can apply for up to $500 to support their growth in preaching in a way that makes the most sense in their individual context. Grants may be used for a variety of purposes. Some examples include:
– Registration or travel expenses for continuing education events
– Books or other preaching resources
– Time away from outside employment to focus on preaching
– Personal preaching retreat for sermon planning
– Childcare to provide time for preaching preparation
– Meals with other preachers for support and encouragement
The strongest applications will show an awareness of the preacher’s ministry context and will articulate how these funds will allow for growth or support in preaching. Applicants are encouraged to be creative in their requests and to ask for what they need in their specific situation. Grantees will be required to submit a short written reflection (in the language of their choice) explaining how they used the funds and how the experience benefited their preaching.
The application window for spring 2024 is now closed.
