Central Christian Church honors twelve faithful servants

by Deborah Moseley, Central Christian Church

Central Christian Church, Indianapolis celebrated a significant milestone in the life of its congregation and in the lives of twelve of its faithful servants with a service of recognition and the presentation of Honored Ministers Pins on October 19, 2014. As ministries are not formed in isolation but in community, with the help of God, it was appropriate that the pinning be done by partners and spouses and before those who claim those honored as part of their congregation.

Together these twelve ministers served 540 years as ordained ministers in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). They have served 86 different congregations and 4 hospitals or health care facilities. Three have served as a regional minister. Two have served at the Disciples headquarters. Many are authors. One has served as General Minister and President. Two have served as missionaries. Five have taught at the seminary level. One served as clergy for FEMA. One has served as a campus minister. One served as an elementary school teacher. One was arrested, imprisoned and deported by a Latin American country for his justice work there. One helped form the GLAD Alliance and developed an AIDS education program. All twelve are members of Central Christian Church, Indianapolis, In. Dr. Sharon Watkins and Reverend Linda McCrae officiated at this service. L to R. are Reverends’ Sharon Watkins, Judith Wray, Linda Patrick, John Stemple, Dawn Stemple, Dan Moseley, Clark Williamson, Dick Hamm, Jennifer Riggs, Brian Grant, Ken Hull, Darrel Crouter, Linda McCrae.
