Disciples churches recently were invited by a group of church leaders to have conversations about immigration during the Columbus Day weekend. Numerous churches were able to start discussions from a faith perspective about the immigration issue. But if your congregation is still hoping to explore this topic, you are encouraged to hold the conversations at any time.
Midway Hills Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dallas Texas, will host a community-wide outreach in late November using resources from the Refugee and Immigration Ministries website. The church will focus its discussion around three questions: What does the Bible have to say about immigration? What is our response to undocumented persons? Where do we stand as a community of faith on this issue?
The RIM website has a variety of resources that can be helpful to congregations, including theological reflections, Biblical texts, worship resources, immigration legislative updates and historical information. To learn more go to: www.disciples.org/RIM
