You are invited to join with North American Pacific/Asian Disciples (NAPAD) in honoring the memory of the Rev. David Kagiwada on September 13, 2015. Kagiwada Memorial Sunday will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Rev. Kagiwada’s passing and marks the beginning of NAPAD Ministry Week, September 14-19, 2015.
The Rev. David Kagiwada, a Japanese-American minister, was one of the founders of the North American Pacific/Asian Disciples of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He served congregations in California and Indiana. The Rev. Kagiwada was known as a strong advocate for racial justice, reconciliation and Christian unity, fundamental values that undergird NAPAD’s ministry to this day.
Following his death, NAPAD established a scholarship fund in his memory to support NAPAD seminarians. Kagiwada scholars contribute significantly towards the life of our church and have continued his legacy of advocating for reconciliation and justice.
