The 6th through 12th graders from Irving North Christian Church spent a week of service giving back to their community, from July 16 – 20. On Friday, seven of these youth and three of their adult sponsors partnered with Keep Irving Beautiful and the City of Irving Parks Department for a cleanup and paint project at Senter Park Recreation Center. The group started with a cleanup of the entire park grounds, then followed up by painting the handrails that lead up to the rear entrance of the center. In total, the group gave 25 hours of service in this project, and also did other activities throughout their mission week of service.
KIB’s Faith Group Chairs Rachel Torrez-Moon and Arnold Martin said, “We appreciate working with faith groups who have chosen to do their mission week work close to home. It’s especially rewarding to work with young people who are learning the value of community service at an early age.”
