The Board of Directors of the Council on Christian Unity announces the job opening for President-Elect. Interested applicants are asked to submit a letter of interest and resume with the names and contact information for four references (including a Regional Minister for pastors or a congregational pastor for lay people). The successful candidate for this position will meet the following criteria:
- A passion for the unity of the Church
- A dynamic theological understanding of the faith and the Church, including the history and polity of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
- Sensitivity to the intersectionalities of global and interfaith contexts
- Awareness of global events and ecumenical and interfaith relationships
- Ability to build relationships in diverse settings
- Committed spirituality, pastoral gifts, and personal openness
- Effective administrative skills and strategic planning abilities
- Ability to communicate well through writing and the spoken word
- Ability to listen, teach, and engage in dialogue
- A willingness and ability to travel at least 30-35% of the time
- Formative ecumenical experiences
- Experience in fundraising and managing budgets
- Be trained in, or willing to receive, Pro-Reconciliation/Anti-Racism Training
- A commitment to prayer, spiritual disciplines, and self-care
- A working knowledge of current modes of communication through technology
- Experience with other cultures and religions
- A post-graduate theological education
- If ordained, must have standing in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
- Active membership in a local congregation
