Christians from around the world met in Kingston, Jamaica May 17-25 for the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation (IEPC). Several Disciples were among the more than 1,000 persons who united for a week-long exploration of just peace and ways to integrate strategies for peace in their homes and churches around the world.
Rev. Robert Welsh, president of the Council on Christian Unity, described the meeting as the beginning of a journey in moving towards a global witness on the issue. The next major stage along that journey will be the Assembly of the WCC, meeting in Busan, South Korea, in October 2013, that will reflect on the theme of the WCC Assembly: "God of life, lead us to justice and peace."
