Disciples will be among those who meet in Washington, D.C., this spring for the 10th annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days. The gathering will take place from Friday, March 25 to Monday, March 28 at the DoubleTree Hotel Crystal City in Arlington, Va. The theme of the conference is "Development, Security & Economic Justice: What’s Gender Got to Do with It?" Daisy Machado, academic dean and professor of church history at Union Theological Seminary in New York City and an ordained Disciples minister, will speak during the Saturday plenary session on the subject "Women and Girls Aren’t the Problem: They’re the Solution! Part 1, Domestic Perspective."
Ecumenical Advocacy Days is inspired by the ecumenical Christian community and is grounded in biblical witness and the group’s shared traditions of justice, peace and integrity of creation. Participants will be trained on policy issues and advocacy, culminating on the final day of the meeting with lobby visits on Capitol Hill.
