The President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships presented its final recommendations to the White House on Tuesday, March 9. General Minister and President Sharon Watkins was among the group of faith-based and community leaders who worked on the recommendations for over a year and was in Washington D.C. to present their finding to President Obama. Watkins stated that she was appreciative of her time on the council, where she focused primarily on issues related to the environment and climate change.
"The council brought together a very diverse group of people who worked together with great civility and respect ," said Watkins. "Our hope is that our recommendations will lead to improved partnerships between government and non-profits to better meet the needs of low-income and other underserved populations."
