Capital Area Regional Assembly – hybrid
October 3, 2020
First Christian Church of Falls Church, Virginia and virtual
The theme of our event, from the book of Esther, is “For Such A Time As This,” a most appropriate theme for both the world we are living in as well as for this time of transition in the Capital Area Region. We are delighted that our keynote speakers and preachers will be the Rev. Daphne Gascot Arias and the Rev. Dr. Jose Francisco Morales.
Rev. Dr. José Francisco Morales, Jr. is the Assistant Professor of Latinx Studies at Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS). Previously he was Disciples Seminary Foundation’s (DSF) Director of Pastoral Formation in Claremont and Assistant Professor of Historical and Comparative Theology at Claremont School of Theology. He has also served as the Regional Minister for the Central Rocky Mountain Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Rev. Morales is married to the Rev. Daphne Gascot Arias.
Rev. Daphne Gascot Arias was most recently senior minister at Downey Memorial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Downey, CA. She was called to serve that congregation with the task of developing a multicultural, multilingual ministry capable of relating and reaching out to the surrounding community. She grew up in Puerto Rico, attending both Disciples congregations and Disciples schools (elementary, middle and high schools). She is a graduate of Ilif School of Theology in Denver, Colorado. Rev. Arias is married to Rev. José F. Morales Jr.
