S.O.I.L. Social Opportunities for Intentional Living

July 28, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - August 2, 2019 @ 10:00 am

SOIL (Social Opportunities for Intentional Living) is a collaborative event between Christmount and Green Chalice Ministries!

Ecology, Spirituality, and Justice Conference

We like to tell folks that it is like a “Summer Camp-meets Mission Trip-meets TED Talks.”

Participants will explore complex sustainability challenges and meet churches engaged in environmental/social justice in their own communities. This trip is about listening to stories, seeing impact firsthand and reflecting on how you can champion causes important to you: food & faith, climate, pollution, health, race and reconciliation, and poverty.

  • Hear dynamic speakers talk about pressing issues facing our society and world today,

  • Engage the other groups in discussion about how they are turning challenges into opportunities, and

  • Participate in local hands-on activities with organizations involved in making the world a better place.

  • And lest we forget you’re at camp – we will sing, dance, play, and worship together!

This will be a service learning/mission trip experience that is rooted in your community and culminates in a camp that includes spiritual formation, social justice, creation care and community building. Something like summer camp, mission trip, model UN, and a Ted Talks Conference combined.
