Winter Talk 2018
January 8, 2018 - January 10, 2018$50 – $110
The fifth annual Winter Talk is a three-day conversation on the Christian Doctrine of Discovery and Indigenous Justice, and how both influence Disciple theology and polity. Hosted by Yakama Christian Mission’s Council and Brite Divinity School, Winter Talk is dedicated to furthering the conversation on the Christian Doctrine of Discovery and its dismantling.
Winter Talk is an important time for American Indians and non-Indians, to gather and eat, learn, and talk about the impact of the Christian Doctrine of Discovery. This is a space of accountability to American Indians where the Indian voice is the principle voice in an exploration of the past, an understanding of the present, and a visioning of the future.
This year’s keynote speaker is Chase Iron Eyes, a member of the Lakota People’s Law Project and a co-founder of the Native American news website Last Real Indians. Mr. Iron Eyes is a leading speaker during the Standing Rock protest/protection action last year, and an ongoing advocate of the Standing Rock landscape.
