Winter Talk 2020

February 3 - February 5

Jon Ghahate is keynoting Winter Talk 2020 at Phillips Theological Seminary, Tulsa, OK. Presented by the Center for Indigenous Ministry (DOC) and Yakama Christian Mission, Winter Talk will center on the Doctrine of Discovery and its impact on Pueblo people.

Jon Ghahate (Laguna & Zuni) is the museum educator at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jon was born and raised on the Pueblos and began his career as a health care provider. He then transitioned into education as an effort to assist Native high school students with working to improve their competencies in STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Being a high school educator and athletic coach, Jon found the need for inclusion of the Native narrative to be incorporated in helping Native students connect with their communities and tribal identity. Jon’s work is to “give a voice of resilience for those who have come before us and for future generations of Pueblo peoples.”
