If your plans include attending this summer’s General Assembly, why not arrive early and attend one of several pre-events? The Center for Faith and Giving will offer a Stewardship Academy on Friday, July 8 that will bring together Bible scholars, preachers, financial planners, clergy and others. The Academy will help participants reclaim stewardship as a way of life, not just a means of funding the annual budget, says Bruce Barkhauer, the Center’s minister for faith and giving.
Bible scholars Rick Lowery and Stephanie Crowder will lead a study and discussion of stewardship in the Bible, followed by breakout sessions featuring several well-known Disciples leaders. Closing worship will be led by Frank Thomas of Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis, Tenn., GMP Sharon Watkins and Bill Thomas, General Assembly music director.
