Like many Americans, Disciples hold differing opinions on a number of issues, including the complex topics of unity, war and peace. The Board of the Council on Christian Unity (CCU) has developed a design for engaging the 2011 General Assembly in “faithful conversations” and dialogue around the issues. The design grew out of response to a resolution “Christian War and Unity” that was referred to the CCU by the 2009 Indianapolis General Assembly.
One part of the process invites Assembly participants to engage in further reflection in one of three afternoon sessions on Monday, July 11: Christian Perspectives on War and Peace; Pastoral and Theological Perspectives on War, Peace, and Unity; and New Developments Regarding War and Peace in the Ecumenical Movement.
