The Nashville General Assembly was named the 2011 Music City Star Performer. The program by the Nashville convention bureau recognizes organizations and their meeting planners who exemplify a spirit of service and social responsibility.
Many planners were recognized for incorporation of volunteer service and donation collection but the Christian Church “raised the bar and stood above the competition through its numerous mission projects. Your efforts to assist organizations like Second Harvest Food Bank, Hands on Nashville, Martha O’Bryan Center, Nashville $Red Cross, Radnor Lake, Nashville Tools for Schools Room in the Inn, Mobile Loaves and Fishes as well as the efforts of Disciples Volunteering and Week of Compassion to help after the May 2010 flood truly made a difference throughout the Nashville community.”
In addition to a Gold Record – style award to hang on the wall, Nashville convention bureau employees will be donating their time and effort to support a local charitable organization in honor of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
