The Administrative Committee (AC) met in Indianapolis in late October. The fall meeting of the Administrative Committee tends to focus on matters related to its duties as the board of the Office of the General Minister and President (OGMP). Following opening worship and relationship building, the attendees engaged in a redeveloped orientation process. As the Board of the OGMP, the committee took action on matters related to the 2013 budgets and a revised employee handbook for the OGMP.
The Administrative Committee also serves as a smaller, deliberative body of the General Board. On Saturday morning the group discussed how the board would be invited to continue last spring’s visioning process and engaged in dialogue about a statistical analysis of the state of the church. The analysis included conversation about the viability of congregations and the historic decline of membership and giving (since 1969 and before). Additionally the committee engaged in conversation about reporting mechanisms related to the YearBook and Directory and other ways congregations can measure and report their community impact.
Regina Morton, moderator of the General Assembly, chaired the meeting.
