Wellness Retreat For New Clergy To Precede General Assembly

Clergy in the first few years of ministry are encouraged to attend a special retreat that focuses on health and wellness. The Pension Fund and Disciples Home Missions are sponsoring "Called to Lead: A Clergy Wellness Retreat for New Pastors." The retreat will start at noon on July 28 at the Fatima Retreat House in Indianapolis and will conclude at noon on July 29. Transportation to the 2009 General Assembly in downtown Indianapolis, which starts at 2 p.m. on July 29, will be provided at the conclusion of the retreat.

Speakers include William Lee, pastor of Loudon Avenue Christian Church in Roanoke, Va., and Kristine Eggert of Disciples Christian Church in Cleveland, Ohio. The retreat is part of the commitment from the "Heartbeats of Faith" Capital Campaign for Churchwide Healthcare to address clergy health and wellness concerns.

Participants will learn information on nutrition, fitness, stress management, support groups and other topics that can enrich their ministries. For more information, go to: www.pensionfund.org or contact Tod Iseminger at tiseming@dhm.disciples.org or call 888-346-2631.
