Disciples History names Yu 2012 Faithful Servant

Disciples History (Disciples of Christ Historical Society) presented Reverend Dr. Guenhee Yu the 2012 Faithful Servant Award at the North American Pacific Asian Disciple convocation in Orange, Calif.  Given annually, the award recognizes individuals who have given an extra measure of service to causes in the whole Church.

The award was presented by Dr. Glenn Thomas Carson, president of Disciples of Christ Historical Society. “The lifetime of service that Dr. Yu has given to the Church is only trumped by the wisdom he has offered to Disciples the world over,” said Dr. Carson.

Dr. Guenhee Yu served as Executive Pastor for NAPAD until his retirement in 2011. A native of Korea, he immigrated to Nashville, Tennessee in 1971. His service includes: Head Chaplain at Turney Center State Prison in Tennessee; Chaplain at Veterans Administration Medical Center and Meharry Medical Center both in Nashville, Tennessee; and Affiliate Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Christian Theological Seminary.

Educated at Seoul Christian University, George Peabody College for Teachers, Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee at Nashville, Dr. Yu has given a lifetime of service throughout the life of the Church.
