The Association of Disciple Musicians 55th annual conference will be held on the campus of the University of Evansville, IN, July 17-22. This year’s theme is “Weave Us Together.” Dr. Terry York, George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University, will lead the daily worship services and early morning worship seminars. Each daily worship service will have wonderful anthems provided by the Chapel Choir, directed by Connie Ford, Owensboro, KY.
There will be opportunities to play handbells as well as learn handbell techniques under the direction of Kathleen Wissinger, founder of the MOSAIC handbell choir. Leading the ADM Chorus, Dr. Larry Wyatt, University of South Carolina, will hold workshops on vocal techniques. Dr. David K. Lamb will not only bring his expertise to organ classes but will present an organ recital at Trinity United Methodist Church in Evansville on Monday, July 18. Chuck Bell will share how to implement and use technology more effectively in worship as well as focusing on the worshipping musician.
To enhance the theme, a Meditative Weaving class will be led by Maria Lee, Black Dog Fiber Studio, with handlooms and quality hand dyed yarns. Wabash Dance Studio’s director and choreographer, Lisa Mattern, will show how movement can bring beauty to the worship experience.
The newest curriculum for Children’s Choirs from Growing in Grace, Be Strong in the Lord, for preschool through 5th grade, will be presented by Donna McMurtrie. Dave Presley has ways of helping “Find and Discover New Hymns.” For quiet time in the mid-afternoon, David Edwards will lead “Finding Your Quiet Center.”
