The board of the Central Pastoral Office for Hispanic Ministries met in early December. Rev. Huberto Pimentel, national pastor, reports the board approved a 57 page document as the basis for a new focus on identity, mission and witness for Obra Hispana. Included in this effort will be an emphasis on mental health care (Matt. 12:28), justice outside the four walls of the church and increasing the maturity of discipleship exploring who the Hispanic Disciples are. A PowerPoint based on the document will be distributed to all the churches in preparation for their next gathering in 2016 with the theme “Chosen” (1 Peter 2:9).
