Hispanic board meets

by Rev. Joel M. Saucedo, moderator of the board

The Board of Hispanic Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) met Dec. 4 – 6 in Indianapolis. Moderators and delegate representatives from the five Hispanic Conventions met to discuss the work of the Search Committee tasked with the discernment process of calling the next National Hispanic Pastor. The Board celebrated the productive 10 years of service that Rev. Huberto Pimentel faithfully dedicated to the Hispanic Ministries of the Christian Church (DoC). The next National Hispanic Pastor will be presented at the 2016 National Hispanic Assembly which will be celebrated in Coral Gables, Florida July 14-16, 2016.

Among the highlights of the board meeting were: acceptance of an invitation to hold a joint assembly with the National Convocation and North American Pacific Asian Disciples in 2018; dialogue with Pastoral Commission regarding document which formed the Central Pastoral Office for Hispanic Ministries; and a discussion to formally include Hispanic Conventions in the Design of the church. We give thanks for the work of this intricate part of the church and its mission to proclaim “Somos Uno!”
