Church leaders, including lay leaders and the general public, are invited to attend “Faith Matters,” a free lecture series at Phillips Theological Seminary during the month of October. The lectures will take place each Monday evening on the PTS campus in Tulsa, Okla. Bernard Brandon Scott, the Darbeth Distinguished Professor of New Testament at Phillips Theological, spoke on Paul’s letter to the Philippians on Oct. 5.
Other lectures in the series will cover subjects ranging from the Bible to the physical body. Sarah Morice Brubaker, lecturer in theology, will speak on “Thinking Theologically About Diets, Shame, and Body Size” on Oct. 12. Don A. Pittman, vice president for academic affairs, dean, and the William Tabbernee Professor of the History of Religions at PTS, will present on “Christian Practice in a Religiously Plural World” Oct. 19. On Oct. 26, a lecture by Sandra Costen Kunz, assistant professor of educational ministries, will consider neuroscience research on the effects of emotion on learning.
