Domestic violence occurs across all socioeconomic, age and cultural groups. Students at Jarvis Christian College are raising awareness about the problem through the Clothesline Project, an initiative in which people from the college community who have had experiences with domestic violence are invited to share their stories at the student center. Story contributors can write or draw about their experiences on t-shirts, which will be hung on clothes lines in front of the student center. The program takes place through April 22.
In Texas, where Disciples-associated Jarvis College is located in Hawkins, a large percentage of all residents or one of their family members or a friend say they have experienced some form of domestic violence.
