Phillips Theological Seminary will inaugurate its third president on Nov. 10. Gary Peluso-Verdend, president and associate professor of practical theology at Phillips Theological Seminary, will be formally installed as the institution’s president during a ceremony at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Tulsa, Okla. Peluso-Verdend has been president since July 1, when he succeeded former president William Tabbernee, who retired on June 30 after serving for 18 years.
Peluso-Verdend said he is humbled and energized by the challenge that Phillips Theological Seminary faces to broaden its programs and brand of theological education to a wider audience. He earned a B.A. in religion from Carroll University, a M.Div. from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in practical theology at University of Chicago. He is the author of “Paying Attention: Focusing Your Congregation on What Matters.” The inauguration is open to the public. For more, go to:
