Stewardship and ministry were the focus areas during this year’s "Wise Practice" session that took place May 5 – 6 at Disciples Divinity House at Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville. Retired regional and pastoral minister Herb Knudsen led sessions on stewardship of self in ministry, stewardship and money in congregations, and developing leadership in churches. He also reflected on his varied experience among Disciples over the last four decades and shared significant wisdom.
This event’s first session featured graduates and pastoral residents Steve Mason, Diana Hodges-Batzka, and Jamie Haskins, who spoke to the process of transitioning into ministry from school. What is the good life in ministry? How do you manage time? How do you balance competing demands? How do you bring a ministry to an end? On May 13, Disciples Divinity House also celebrated with six students graduating from Vanderbilt Divinity School, with five Disciples receiving their Masters of Divinity degrees.
