Dr. O. Eugene Moore died July 3, 2012. He was born on November 20, 1916. He served churches in Oklahoma, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Alabama and Illinois. Moore also served as a director of religious education for state organizations, assistant to the president at Culver-Stockton, associate general secretary for the Missouri Association of Churches, and regional minister in Virginia.
In 2002, he became a Personal Energy Transportation volunteer, working with a group to build a three wheeled, hand cranked wheel chair with wheel barrow tires that will go where other wheel chairs can’t go. A machine that is mostly produced by volunteers and shipped to 90 foreign countries and given freely to some of the 21 million people who have lost the use of their legs due to polio and land mines.
He earned three degrees at Phillips University in 1939, 1942 and 1944, and in 1965 he received a doctor of divinity degree from Culver-Stockton College. He resided at Friendship Village Retirement Home in St. Louis, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Rena, three children, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
