About 50 representatives from the "Obra Hispana" attended the recent National Summit Conference for Hispanic Pastors, April 23-24 in Dallas, Texas. Those who attended the meeting explored topics related to the future of Hispanic ministries within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. The summit was born out of a projected need that was expressed at last year’s Hispanic Caucus meeting.
"After several keynote presentations from several Hispanic leaders within our Church, summit participants entered into small group discussions providing input into the need for clarity and support of our Obra Hispana, the Office of Hispanic Ministries and our National Hispanic Pastor to be more central and be part of the process," Rev. Luis E. Ferrer told the gathering. Ferrer is interim/transitional pastor for Iglesia Hermandad Cristiana in Indianapolis.
