A direct support professional who works with Woodhaven helping people with developmental disabilities recently won the Allene M. Jackson Award from the St. Louis-based Association on Aging with Developmental Disabilities. Adrianne Bell was honored for her work in assisting three older adults with developmental disabilities in one of Woodhaven’s homes.
Bell routinely goes beyond her required duty to enhance the quality of life for the people she assists, even though she is a single mother with two jobs. The Allene M. Jackson Award is given annually for the support of a person or persons at least 50 years old with developmental disabilities. It is the second time in two years that a Woodhaven employee, which serves the developmentally disabled in Central, Mo., and is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), has won the award.
