More than 100 people from across the Northwest Regional Christian Church http://www.disciplesnw.org/ gathered in late March to share their stories of ministry, but they were not in the same building. These Disciples communed through technology from Moscow, Idaho; and three locations in Washington – Kenniwick in the southeast, Puyallup in the southwest and Lake City in the northeast (Seattle) area. Together they represented 21 churches – nearly half the region’s total.
The scene-setting presentations were shared among the four sites but there were also in-person off-line conversations each place as participants discussed what they had just heard. Stories of mission were shared touching on Global Ministries, being a critical presence in local communities and learning about our own neighborhoods. Discussion continued on how the community of communities (region) can be resources for one another.
In true Disciple fashion, the gathering closed with Communion with video from all four sites. The invitation was delivered from Moscow, the prayer from Kennewick, the words of institution from Lake City, and then the prayer after communion from Puyallup.
