The 2011 Disciples Development Conference scheduled for later this month will explore fundraising strategies that work for ministries. The conference takes place January 21-23, 2011, in San Diego, and will feature nonprofit fund-raiser and author James Greenfield as keynote speaker. The conference will also offer a number of workshops, break-out sessions and close with worship. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how fund-raising strategies can be part of their ministry’s long and short-term plans as well as to connect with fund-raising leaders from ministries related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
In addition, a one-day pre-conference class will be held on January 21, 2011 entitled "Understanding the Basics of Fundraising." The course will teach participants about the basic components of a comprehensive fundraising program: annual fund, capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving. The class will be taught by Ann Updegraff Spleth, and is co-sponsored by the Fund Raising School at the Center on Philanthropy and by Disciples Care Network (DCN) in cooperation with the Oreon E. Scott Foundation. To find out more about the pre-event, go to: www.disciples.org/Portals/0/PDF/DNS/2011/20110114-DevelopmentConference.pdf
