On June 14, 2011, the Children’s Worship Center will be packed up and moved from Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky to Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa Oklahoma. The opportunity to have the center located further west will help Disciples Home Ministries make Children Worship & Wonder Story Teller Trainings available to additional congregations and church leaders.
This move ends an eleven year history of having the Children’s Worship Center located at Lexington Theological Seminary where approximately 100 Children Worship & Wonder Story Tellers have been trained. Rev. Kaye Edwards, Director of Family and Children’s Ministries for Disciples Home Missions expresses her deep appreciation to LTS for the support of this ministry with children for the past eleven years. Rev. Dr. John Imbler, Executive Vice President and professor of Disciples studies at PTS, speaking on behalf of Phillips, welcomes the opportunity for the seminary to participate with DHM in this important ministry.
Phillips Theological Seminary is in the process of renovating a section of the library to house the Children’s Worship Center. Edwards is grateful for this new partnership with another of our Disciples seminaries. When we work together in such partnerships the whole church is better served.
To celebrate the relocation of the Children’s Worship Center, a Service of Dedication and a Reception will be held at PTS later in 2011. For additional information please contact Kaye Edwards, [email protected]; 434-832-1119.
