Disciples Benevolent Services is expanding chaplaincy care to Austin, Texas. Disciples Benevolent Services has appointed Janice A. Spence as chaplain to serve the residents, clients and staff at the Retirement Nursing Center, The Continental, and the Austin Recovery Center in Austin. She will also be available to provide pastoral care for residents of the community.
"It is through our partnership with the Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the generosity of our past and current supporters that we can offer this ministry at no cost to the residents," said Dennis Hagemann, president and CEO of Disciples Benevolent Services. Spence has a bachelor of arts degree in substance abuse services and a master of arts degree in theology. For more, see: www.disciples.org/Portals/0/PDF/DNS/2009/20090813-DBS.pdf (PDF)
