Despite economic uncertainty, Disciples contributed $7.4 million in permanent fund gifts in 2009 to support the future witness of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) through the Christian Church Foundation. Foundation President Gary W. Kidwell said it was the largest amount given for permanent funds in a single year since 1989, when the foundation received the largest portion of the testamentary gift from Othel and DeWitt Brown.
"Disciples ministries will be forever impacted by these gifts," Kidwell said. "Even in uncertain economic times, people of faith look to the future with hope and make important decisions to support Christian ministry and witness." The Foundation distributed $5.8 million to Disciples ministry and other charities from permanent funds held in trust. These distributions, which included $945,000 to Disciples Mission Fund, are directed to ministry by donors. To read the full report, go to: www.disciples.org/ccf/PDF/2009CCFdistributions.pdf
