The Insurance Board is offering several webinars in Feb. and March dealing with church safety. The first of the Internet-based information sessions is scheduled for Feb. 9 entitled, "Building Trust, Preventing Disaster – Financial Controls for Your Church." The program will review related elements of church by-laws and basic principles of financial control, separation of duties and audit.
A webinar entitled, "Litigation 101 – You Have Been Sued" will take place March 2. This session will review steps that churches must take in response to lawsuits, including disposition of suit papers, claim reporting, and protection of evidence. On March 23, another webinar will explore the topic "Abuse Prevention Policy — Where Do You Stand?" It will cover the need for a well-rounded church policy to prevent exploitation.
