Powerful preaching, a timely theme and authentic worship were among the words used to describe the 21st Biennial Session of the National Convocation, which took place in Oklahoma City, Okla., July 29-Aug. 1. The Convocation opened in grand fashion with drum music, dancers and pastors with their spouses dressed in colorful African attire. "There was a powerful spiritual presence and it was evident in the preaching and music in the worship services and the reception and interaction in the workshops," stated Associate General Minister and Administrative Secretary of the National Convocation Rev. Timothy James.
During its business session, the National Convocation also voted to stand with the Hispanic Assembly of the Disciples of Christ in their emergency resolution to call for immigration reform with special consideration for children and families.
