Why “wholeness”?
· Because salvation is about the soul of a person – and so much more. It is about the whole of a person. We love God with our heart, soul, mind and strength;
· Because unity is about the healing of churchly divisions of denominational practice and belief – and so much more. It is also about healing the brokenness of the human family across the divisions of race and culture and ethnicity. There is neither Jew nor Greek; no slave nor free; no male nor female. We are one in Christ;
· Because Jesus forgave sins and healed bodies; because he touched individual lives and gathered crowds; he inspired a church that is: one body, many members; united but not uniform; diverse but not divided; the Body of Christ for the world;
· Because the church is called to be the foretaste of God’s Shalom: abundant life, peace with justice, when every tear will be dried; the nations healed; when God will be our God and we will be God’s people . . . wholeness.
