The Pension Fund is in the early stages of developing a health and spiritual wellness program designed for Disciples clergy serving with their first congregation. The retreat is the first in a series of health and wellness initiatives to be funded from the Heartbeats of Faith Fund income.
The Rev. Tod Iseminger, Minister of Leader Development, at Disciples Home Missions will lead the planning for the 2-day event. The collaboration of the Pension Fund and DHM will allow Iseminger to share his ministry gifts while enabling the Pension Fund to develop a compelling event. In announcing his special call and partnership, James Hamlett, President of the Pension Fund offered special thanks to DHM for their commitment to the health and well-being of clergy. "The willingness of DHM to collaborate in this special emphasis for recently called clergy is a blessing to the Church," said Hamlett. Iseminger will spend approximately one-third of his mission/mission assignment developing the retreat
The retreat is scheduled for July 28-29, in Indianapolis, immediately preceding the General Assembly of the Christian Church. The Christian Church Health Care Benefit Trust, for which the Pension Fund is trustee, will subsidize the retreat. Further information will be released in coming weeks regarding the retreat.
The Pension Fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) serves the financial and health needs of ministers and lay employees of the Church through the Pension Plan, Tax Deferred Savings, Churchwide Health Care, Delta Dental insurance, Accident Insurance and retirement planning.
