Described as real, relevant and redemptive, a Convocation Youth Sunday in Los Angeles, Calif., brought numerous young people to Abundant Life Christian Church recently. Youth and young adults shared remarkable stories of overcoming violence, abuse and neglect in song, dance, drama and spoken word.
Several weeks prior to the service, youth workers spent hours preparing, praying and fasting and being trained as prayer counselors to lead youth to Christ and provide follow-up. A resource table was made available along with counseling staff from Project IMPACT, who were available to help those with special needs. Project IMPACT is a nationwide program designed to assist churches in reducing youth violence in their communities. Many youth gave their lives to Christ as a result of the service.
