A major initiative involving young adult Disciples will allow then to explore inclusiveness and how best to become a truly multicultural church. The program is called "Babel Table: from Tower to Table" and seeks to engage participants in hands-on mission through work trips.
Forty-two young adult Disciples have been selected for the programs which will take place at three Disciples mission stations. A team of young adults will meet next week at Westside Mission in New Orleans, La. (Dec. 16-19). Other trips include work at the Romero Center in San Diego, Calif. (March 10-13, 2011) and Yakama Christian Mission in White Swan, Wash. (June 9-12, 2011). Young adults selected to participate in the Babel Table were assigned to one of the three mission opportunities. Each includes equal numbers of men and women, is ethnically diverse and represents lay persons, seminarians, and young adult pastors from 15 regions of the Church.
