In nearly every corner of the world, Disciples are making a difference. Congregations, groups, and individuals all across the U.S. and Canada, and their mission partners around the globe, are bringing wholeness to their communities.
We serve meals to local homeless populations, tutor students after school, and speak out on issues impacting our neighborhoods. We look for ways to partner with local organizations and other faith communities, finding common cause to move us toward shared visions.
When we give our time, talent, and treasure, we accomplish more together than we do apart.
We know, however, that we are only able to share our own gifts because we have received so much from God, whose generosity overflows.
As the apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians, “And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God” (Philippians 1:9-11 NRSV).
We can respond to God’s overflowing generosity with our own overflowing love. When we support each other, we are sharing God’s love and our own, with each other, and with those who need it most.
But in such a fragmented world, it can feel overwhelming to find the best way to share wholeness and love in a meaningful way. Where should we start?
As Disciples, we know there are so many ways to serve God by serving and loving our neighbors – because we’re already doing the work.
We rejoice in knowing that Disciples Mission Fund serves the Church, and the world, in ways we cannot do alone.
This Easter, your gift to Disciples Mission Fund will go near and far to share God’s overflowing generosity and love, through general ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada.
Your gift supports vulnerable communities through the work of ministries like National Benevolent Association, Disciples Home Missions, and Global Ministries.
Your gift also supports Disciples congregations across our two countries, through the support provided by ministries like the Center for Faith and Giving, National Convocation, Central Pastoral Office for Hispanic Ministries, North American Pacific/Asian Disciples, and Treasury Services.
When we work together to support our communities and our churches, through our gifts to Disciples Mission Fund, we are living out our call to be a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. We are responding with overflowing love and support, given with deep gratitude for God’s overflowing generosity.
Make a one-time or recurring gift today, or contribute to your church’s special offering (received in many congregations on March 25 and April 1), and know that your love and compassion will overflow from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.
