General Commission on the Order of Ministry for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) – or “GCOM” – was established in 1994 by the General Board.
GCOM–
- Develops and recommends policies concerning the order of ministry (link to document below)
- Considers matters related to ministerial concerns such as standing, ordination and commissioning
- Gives counsel to and coordinates various ministerial services in general, regional and institutional ministries
- Is responsible for working in concert with ecumenical partners which hold responsibility for ministerial concerns
Most pastors, chaplains, and other ministers receive standing through their regions. For those ordained ministers who receive their standing through the General Commission on Ministry, please complete your form by Jan. 2.
