General Minister and President Terri Hord Owens addresses this message to the church after the turmoil of Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol building.
“No matter your politics, we’ve lost our moral compass as a nation and we have to get really clear aobut what is morally right.” She goes on to call on the church to be the light of Christ in the world.

Thank you so much for your prophetic and pastoral words for us all as Church in these painful days. Your leadership is a powerful gift for all of us in this time.

Thank you for reminding us of being asked to be moral people. I am 91 and have lived through many serious times and saw our nation come through them with a certain honor. The depression, the second WW11, the Korean war, Viet Nam. Impeachment of two presidents. We survived and thrived. However in the 60’s young people were rebelling and stated that morality is not the basis for good but doing whatever turns your on. Not saying as long as it does not harm anyone , just whatever you want to do. I was fearful that this would be accepted by our nation and if so would bring about a desperate situation. Well, it did catch on, and by the 80’s greed had taken over and church attendance was going down. If you accepted that argument then anyone who disagreed with you was your enemy and was seen as someone who wanted their way and you not having yours. We have a President who thinks that way and threatened those who disagreed with him and followed through with those threats. he encouraged anger, hatred and bullyism and we are experiencing the results.
