Working in concert with the Office of General Minister and President, Office of Christian Vocations, College of Regional Ministers and ecumenical partners, especially the United Church of Christ, GCOM accomplishes its work through three committees:
Search & Call
- Gives oversight, direction and guidance to the processes used by Disciples congregations, Regions, related institutions and the general church to facilitate calling of clergy with Standing
- Develops documents and policies for the Search & Call process
- Works with Racial Ethnic Ministries leaders to develop policies, documents and resources
Standards
- Interprets standards for ministry as derived from the Theological Foundations and Policies and Criteria for the Ordering of Ministry
- Reviews documents associated with Theological Foundations and Policies and Criteria for the Ordering of Ministry
Support
- Reviews annual Standing requests for those whose Standing is lodged with GCOM
- Engages in regular dialogue with Racial Ethnic Ministries leaders
- Creates General Assembly educational opportunities and maintains policy documents designed to support ministry
- Conducts annual review of GCOM Misconduct Policies and Procedures, oversees Misconduct Response Team and functions as an Appeals Committee, when necessary
